Do you know what is on your razor?
How to switch to a cleaner shave AVOID RAZOR BURN
Warm water will open up your pores and relax the skin, making your hair follicles "fight" less against your razor, making for a closer shave and a better shave. Plus, it'll get you nice and loose for the task ahead. Clean your face - Clean skin will give your blade a smoother surface to glide on.
Here are some tips how to avoid razor burn
Trim your hair if needed
Exfoliate the Skin. ... I recommend this sugar scrub by Beautycounter called Sugar Buff Body Polish
Apply Shaving Cream. ... I would use this one by Billie
Shave in the Direction of Hair Growth
Rinse Away the Cream.
Moisturize with a Fragrance-Free Lotion. I personally recommend for your legs this light weight breathable lotion from Beautycounter called Hydrating Body Lotion
Let’s talk about shaving your legs
1.) Hydrate your skin before shaving your legs
If your legs are not well-hydrated the hair will be more difficult to cut, increasing chances of irritating your skin, nicks and razor burn. Shaving dry hair may even dull down your blade faster.
2.) Apply shaving gel or cream
After soaking, lather shaving gel and smooth evenly over your legs. Using shave gel maintains moisture and helps the razor blade glide more easily across your skin. You also see where you still need to shave so you can avoid having to re-shave over any areas.
3.) Shave in long, steady strokes
You do not have to press hard on your razor when shaving as long your blade is clean and sharp. Shave in long, steady strokes.
Shave carefully around bonier areas, such as ankles and knees, to avoid accidently getting nicked. And when shaving your knees, try bending your leg to better shave the front of your knee cap, and then straighten your leg when shaving behind.
Stop and rinse off your razor blade after every stroke to wash away shave gel residue and body hair. And, take your time to avoid nicks and cuts.
