Sydney’s picked Yellowstone

I can’t believe my oldest Sydney is going to be a Senior this year!

I can’t believe my oldest Sydney is going to be a Senior this year! Since this could be her last year vacationing with us, she picked the destination. So Yellowstone was on her bucket list. I was super excited to see it as well, and hiking is what I love.  We stayed in Dubios, Wy it was an hour's drive to see it all but so worth it for cost and such a friendly little town. Lots of eating places.

Grand Tetons - What to see and do!

First of all, if you have a person in your family or car in the fact that will be entering 4th grade you will get in all the parks for FREE. All you need to do is fill out a form online ahead of time. So this was a perfect year for our family to go knowing Jace will be entering 4th grade this fall. We spent the first day seeing Jackson Lake, it was so beautiful with the mountains in the view.

I highly suggest riding up Signal Mountain. This is where we say our FIRST and ONLY bear. It was super cute, eating berries on the side of the road. Next we hiked up by Jenny Lake heading are to Hidden Falls. Ended up being way longer than we thought and thankfully we got to the Hidden Falls and a boat was there waiting for us to take us back instead of hiking…thank goodness. I suggest entering the gate early, it was very busy. We spent the nights at our cabin, relaxing in the hot tub and playing corn hole (bean bag toss)

Top 10 things to see in Yellowstone

We toured Yellowstone in one day…I know really crazy. We woke up early and entered the gate at 7 am. So glad it was open so we can get to the Old Faithful early. I suggest downloading the app Yellowstone. You can see what is open and when Old Faithful will go off. It’s 90-minute increments. We only waited 10 minutes….it was all good. until Kyra fell off Megan’s shoulders. I would say these are MUST see sites:

  1. Lamar Valley - see Buffalo

  2. Boiling River - you can get into the river where hot springs meet

  3. Mammoth Hot springs - very pretty you can boardwalk along the geysers

  4. Bunsen Peak - Overlook and a quick stop with a beautiful view

  5. Artist Paint Pots - short boardwalk

  6. Gibbons Falls - quick stop by a road with 84 ft waterfall

  7. Grand Prismatic - Very neat geyser short boardwalk

  8. Fairy trail - beautiful waterfall a hike but worth it

  9. Old Faithful Geyser

  10. Hayden Valley - see a lot of buffalo by the road

  11. Grand Canyon - so pretty was really breathtaking to see this!

Ride Off into the Wyoming Wilderness!

We were so sad Kyra (broken arm) and Lance had to stay back, but so glad we did take a trip on horses up the mountain. The horses were really calm and we LOVED our guide Jill she was super fun and told us a lot about the Tetons and the history of the area.

Take a trip back into the old west with a trail ride into the beautiful Grand Teton Wilderness right from our onsite stables. They provide everything you need but don't forget your camera for this fun activity in some of America's most pristine wilderness. Join the elk, deer, moose, and other wildlife as you ride your own horse into the Bridger-Teton National Forest. You'll want your camera to help you remember the beautiful scenery and wildlife.

Located directly behind Togwotee Mountain Lodge, our stables are located on an extensive network of riding trails, which provide scenic vistas of Jackson Hole. Your trip will take you up to the top of Angle Mountain rising to 10,200 feet and named after Togwotee’s founders.

Save money stay in Debois

Dubois — say it like “cowboys.” It’s one of the last real old West towns — a charming hidden gem with the authentic feel of the Frontier. Expedia calls Dubois the best place for an escape in Wyoming. We love all the hometown eating places and felt like our little own small-town atmosphere. We bought all our groceries and made cold sandwiches and snacks for our road trips into Tetons and Yellowstone. Our cabin had a hot tub and bean bag game, and we had a movie night too. It’s a great way to save with a family of 6!
